There are many causes of constipation including medications, poor bowel habits, low fiber diets, possibly abuse of laxatives, hormonal disorders, and diseases primarily of other parts of the body that also affect the colon.
FIBER :
One of the best known home remedies for constipation is fiber. The recommended dosage - 20 to 35 grams per day - can be found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Fiber is also a convenient constipation remedy since most people already have these items in their homes.
CASTOR OIL :
Castor oil is extracted from castor beans and is a natural remedy for constipation. It functions as a stimulant laxative and lubricates your bowels without absorbing any moisture from the walls of your intestines. Take 1 table spoon of castor oil on an empty stomach or after taking food. You can take castor oil even at night time.
MINT AND GINGER TEA :
Mint and ginger are both proven home remedies to help alleviate a slew of digestive problems. Peppermint contains menthol, which has an antispasmodic effect that relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract. Ginger is a "warming" herb that causes the inside of the body to generate more heat; herbalists say this can help speed up sluggish digestion. In tea, the hot water will also stimulate digestion and help relieve constipation. Dandelion tea is also a gentle laxative and detoxifier.
Drink more water to avoid constipation.
